<g:title>Portrait in Pink, Paris</g:title>
      <g:description>

Acrylic and guouche on canvas 16x20"

Description

"Portrait in Pink, Paris" is an acrylic and gouache painting on canvas that captures a young woman in a quiet, reflective moment.

Built from soft pinks, lilacs, and warm earth tones, the composition uses bold shapes and clean lines to create an image that feels both simple and deeply expressive. There is a stillness to the work that draws the viewer in, inviting a moment of pause and contemplation.

Artistic Theme

This painting explores the inner world of its subject — a sense of thoughtfulness, hesitation, and emotional subtlety.

Rather than telling a fixed story, it suggests a mood: a fleeting moment of uncertainty, reflection, or quiet distance. Its simplicity leaves space for interpretation, allowing each viewer to bring their own feeling and experience to the work.

Artist’s Statement

In "A Portrait in Pink, Paris", I wanted to create a portrait that feels calm, immediate, and emotionally open.

Using acrylic and gouache, I worked with flat areas of colour and simplified lines to focus on mood rather than detail. I am drawn to the way a reduced image can still hold feeling — how a still figure, a softened palette, or an unreadable expression can invite curiosity and reflection. This painting is intended to offer a moment of stillness, while leaving room for the viewer to wonder what lies beneath the surface.
</g:description>

      <g:title>Stop</g:title>
      <g:description>
Description

Acrylic and guouche on wooden panel. 30x15cm

"Stop" depicts the figure of a woman with her arms raised in a protective, defensive gesture. Her body is turned inward, suggesting tension, fear, and self-preservation. Set against a warm, textured ground of ochres and yellows, the darkened figure and deep red clothing create a striking visual contrast that draws attention to her emotional state. The composition is intentionally spare, with no visible source of danger, allowing the scene to remain open-ended and psychologically charged.

Artistic Theme

This work explores vulnerability, threat, and the instinctive human need for protection. By withholding any explicit detail of what the figure is shielding herself from, "Stop" invites the viewer to confront the unknown and to bring their own experiences, anxieties, or interpretations into the space of the painting. The absence of a defined aggressor shifts the focus from narrative to emotion, emphasizing the internal experience of fear rather than its cause. The painting speaks to themes of personal boundaries, trauma, resilience, and the silent moments in which the body reacts before words can be formed.

Artist’s Statement

In "Stop", I wanted to capture a moment of instinctive defence — the body responding to an unseen threat. The figure’s raised arms act as both shield and signal, suggesting fear, resistance, and the urgent need to protect oneself. By leaving the threat undefined, I aimed to create ambiguity, allowing the viewer to enter the work through their own imagination and emotional understanding. The use of acrylic and gouache on wooden panel helped me build a surface that feels both raw and immediate, reinforcing the tension within the image. This painting is less about a specific event and more about a universal emotional experience: the impulse to recoil, resist, and survive.
</g:description>

      <g:title>"Where is G_d in all of this?"</g:title>
      <g:description>
"Where is G_d in All of This?"

Acrylic, guoache on reclaimed canvas, unframed.

15.5"×10.5"; 40×26cm

Description

This acrylic and gouache painting shows a lone Jewish female figure, possibly a rabbi, in the act of removing her prayer shawl. Set against a surface of worn browns, blacks and parchment tones, the figure appears suspended between ritual, grief and revelation. Arrow-like marks and fragmented forms suggest confusion, pressure and competing directions, while the Hebrew words beside her ask: “Where is God in all of this?” The weathered surface, reminiscent of old parchment or stone rubbing, gives the work the feeling of an ancient question made urgently present.

Artistic Themes

The painting explores the fragile space between faith and doubt, belonging and estrangement. The act of removing the prayer shawl is not a simple rejection of tradition, but a charged gesture of questioning, sorrow and moral reckoning. Rooted in Jewish experience, the work reflects both personal spiritual uncertainty and the anguish of confronting present horrors carried out in the name of the Jewish people. It invites the viewer into a space where conscience, identity and belief remain unresolved.

Artistic Statement

I made this work from a place of grief, doubt and inner conflict. It reflects my questioning of faith — both in general and within Judaism — intensified by the horror of current events. The figure removing her prayer shawl became, for me, an image of exposure: not abandonment, but a painful confrontation with what cannot be explained away. The Hebrew phrase, “Where is God in all of this?”, sits at the heart of the painting. This work does not offer resolution; it holds open a space for lament, witness and uneasy reflection.

</g:description>

      <g:title>4 wooden panels.  50's comics</g:title>
      <g:description>
Description

4 acrylic paintings on wooden panels 20x14.5cm, or with frames 23.5x17.5cm.

This set of four acrylic paintings on wooden panels reimagines the dramatic visual language of 1950s American crime comic covers through a stylised contemporary lens. Each piece captures a distinct scene charged with mystery, glamour, danger, and cinematic tension. Painted in bold, expressive colour with simplified forms and noir-inspired compositions, these works evoke the pulp storytelling and heightened emotion of mid-century popular culture while transforming it into something painterly, atmospheric, and uniquely modern.

Painted on wooden panels, the paintings have a solid, tactile presence that enhances their vintage-inspired character. Displayed together, the four works create a compelling narrative rhythm, like fragments of an unwritten story suspended between seduction, suspense, and aftermath.

They also represent a kind of femininity which both clashed and opted into the self-defined masculinity of the day.

Artistic Theme

The collection explores the aesthetics of vintage pulp imagery, drawing on the visual drama of American crime comics from the 1950s. Femme fatales, ambiguous interiors, charged gestures, and moments of psychological tension all play a central role in the series. These paintings are less about direct reproduction and more about reinterpretation — distilling the genre’s iconic style into a more intimate, expressive, and painterly form.

The works engage with themes of performance, narrative, memory, and myth-making. By revisiting imagery once designed for mass circulation and sensational appeal, the series invites viewers to reconsider these scenes as cultural artefacts — both nostalgic and unsettling, theatrical and emotionally resonant.

Artist Statement

In this series, I wanted to revisit the visual world of 1950s American crime comics and translate their exaggerated drama into painting. I’m interested in the tension between popular printed imagery and the handmade object — how something once disposable and immediate can become slowed down, reworked, and given a different emotional weight through paint.

Rather than copying the original covers exactly, I approached them as starting points for stylised reinterpretation. I focused on atmosphere, pose, colour, and suggestion, allowing each image to sit somewhere between homage and reinvention. The figures feel caught in incomplete narratives, inviting the viewer to imagine what has happened — or what is about to happen.

These paintings reflect my interest in pulp culture, femininity, suspense, and the enduring power of visual storytelling. Together, the four panels form a small collection of scenes that are theatrical, moody, and open-ended.

</g:description>

      <g:title>Albert</g:title>
      <g:description>
Description

Acrylic on paper, 14x10" (frame as seen, optional.

  "Albert" is an imagined portrait of French philosopher Albert Camus. It is rendered through a bold, graphic visual language.

The figure is presented in a familiar trench coat against a vivid, atmospheric backdrop of fiery oranges, reds, and muted blue-grey, creating a striking tension between presence and mystery.

This piece balances structure and spontaneity: strong black contours (clean line) and simplified forms give the portrait a graphic immediacy, while the expressive background introduces movement, emotion, and an almost cinematic sense of place.

"Albert" is both homage and interpretation — less a literal likeness than a psychological impression of the writer’s mood, era, and philosophical gravity.

Artistic Themes

In "Albert", themes of identity, solitude, intellect, and atmosphere come to the surface.

The composition suggests a figure moving through both landscape and thought, with the autumnal palette evoking reflection, transience, and inner intensity. The sharp contrasts within the coat and figure create a sense of fragmentation and duality, echoing the complexity often associated with Camus himself — a man of clarity, contradiction, and moral questioning.

The result is a portrait that feels both literary and modern, intimate and iconic.

Artist’s Statement

As a neurodiverse artist, I am drawn to ways of seeing that move beyond strict realism and into feeling, rhythm, and visual association. My work often centres on atmosphere, line, and emotional resonance rather than exact representation.

In "Albert", I wanted to capture not just the image of Camus, but the sensation of him — his distance, his thoughtfulness, and the enduring cultural weight he carries.

Camus himself provoked controversy and, later, contempt amongst his contemporaries, and is latterly (lazily) dismissed as somewhat lightweight - and yet his arguments and ideas remain as vital - perhaps even more vital - today as they ever were

My influences range from French and Belgian graphic illustrators such as Jean-Claude Götting to the bold colour language of Paul Gauguin. These influences come together in my approach through flattened forms, strong contrasts, and expressive tonal shifts.

</g:description>

      <g:title>The End of the Night </g:title>
      <g:description>
"The End of the Night"

Acrylic and oils on paper 12x16", unframed - frames shown as example, also early sketches.

Description

"The End of the Night" is a figurative painting in acrylic and oil on paper depicting a woman seated on the edge of a bed or table, smoking a cigarette in a moment of exhausted stillness.

Dressed in a loose nightdress, she appears caught in the quiet aftermath of an unseen encounter. Her body is slumped, one knee raised, one arm folded inward as she smokes, suggesting both physical fatigue and emotional withdrawal.

The composition is sparse but charged: the pale figure is set against a dark, enclosed interior, with the stark presence of a cross on the wall intensifying the atmosphere. The rough, immediate handling of paint gives the work a raw and unsettled quality, reinforcing the sense of weariness, vulnerability and resignation. The woman is presented without glamour or sentimentality; instead, the painting confronts the viewer with a human presence marked by labour, time and survival.

Artistic Themes

This painting engages with themes of ageing, sexuality, solitude.

The title, "The End of the Night" evokes a transitional moment — the point at which performance ends and private reality returns. Rather than depicting seduction or desire, the work focuses on what remains after intimacy has become transactional: fatigue, routine and the burden of embodiment.

The suggestion that the woman may be a sex worker introduces questions about how certain bodies are viewed, used and morally coded. The painting resists idealisation. It does not offer beauty in a conventional sense, nor does it soften the harshness of the subject. Instead, it insists on visibility for a figure who might otherwise be dismissed, ignored or reduced to stereotype. In this way, the work becomes not simply a portrait of one woman, but a meditation on class, gendered labour and the emotional cost of survival.

There is also a tension between vulnerability and defiance. Although the figure appears tired and exposed, she retains a certain psychological opacity; she does not perform for the viewer. This refusal creates a difficult, compelling space in which the audience must confront their own assumptions about age, desirability, morality and dignity.

Artist's Statement

For "The End of the Night", I wanted to paint a figure stripped of glamour, performance and illusion. I was interested in the moment after everything is over — when the public face drops away and what remains is exhaustion, habit and the simple fact of continuing.

The woman in this painting is not idealised, beautified or sentimentalised. She is tired, ageing and self-contained, and it was important to me that she be shown with directness rather than apology.

The work reflects my interest in people who exist at the edges of social comfort — individuals who are often judged before they are truly seen. By implying that this woman may be a sex worker, I wanted to bring attention to the ways in which society projects shame, desire, pity or contempt onto certain bodies, especially older female bodies. At the same time, I wanted to resist reducing her to a symbol. She is not there to be explained away; she is present as a person, with her own interior life, weariness and dignity.

The use of acrylic and oil on paper allowed me to work in a way that felt immediate, rough and unvarnished. I wanted the material qualities of the painting to echo the emotional atmosphere of the image — raw, intimate and unresolved. Ultimately, "The End of the Night" is about survival, about what is left when desire becomes labour, and about the quiet humanity that persists beneath judgement.

</g:description>

      <g:title>Donny and Vlad</g:title>
      <g:description>
Acrylic, Guoache, ink on canvas (40mm).

14x10"

Description

"Donny and Vlad" is an original mixed-media painting in acrylic, gouache, and ink on canvas.

Borrowing the visual language of a familiar pop-cultural image and reworking it into an overtly contemporary political portrait, the piece places Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin into a composition associated with rebellion, infamy, and cultural unease.

The result is confrontational and intentionally unsettling: a vivid, graphic work that merges political satire with art-historical and music-cultural reference.

Artistic Themes

This piece explores appropriation, power, complicity, and the seductive surface of political image-making. By recasting two of the most controversial political figures of the modern era into an iconic borrowed composition, the work invites viewers to think about the relationship between media myth, celebrity, violence, and historical memory. Its visual tension lies in the collision between stylised pop imagery and a darker message: that political alliances built on ego, authoritarianism, and mutual opportunism can have destructive consequences far beyond the frame.

Artist’s Statement

In "Donny and Vlad", I wanted to use a recognisable visual reference point to create a sharp political intervention.

By replacing the original figures with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, I’m drawing attention to the theatricality of power and the dangerous intimacy of political relationships that shape global events. This is not a tribute image; it is a warning. The painting suggests a shared trajectory of destruction — a world remade through vanity, aggression, disinformation, and disregard for human cost. I wanted the work to feel immediate, cynical, and visually arresting, while also carrying a sense of menace beneath its stylised surface.

</g:description>

      <g:title>"Masculinity in Flux"</g:title>
      <g:description>
"Masculinity in Flux" - original artwork by Spekterdog

Acrylic, oil, guoache on canvas (20mm). 24x18".

Description:

The concept of "masculinity in flux" reflects the dynamic and evolving nature of societal expectations and individual expressions of what it means to be a man in the 21st Century. This transformation is driven by multiple interrelated factors, leading to both opportunities and challenges. A significant proportion of men (and some women) are politically and culturally occupied by the challenges, the rise of “incel culture” being one visible manifestation of this.

Loss of masculine identity is cited as a response to attempts by society to politically shift to a culture of equal rights, seeing it rather as a challenge to male hegemony.

The painting draws on the religious image of the three wise men, but depicts them as uncertain, bewildered, clinging on to each other in their struggle to understand and confront the seeming challenges of the modern world.

The painting uses low density, but bold and brightly coloured, acrylic paints traditionally used in what are seen as “male pursuits” such as military modelling/game craft. Splashes of oil paint represent a time where that medium was dominant. Whilst it has found its modern place amidst other mediums, it still has people who vocally reject them in favour of traditional methods.

</g:description>

      <g:title>"The Old Anarchist"</g:title>
      <g:description>
Description:

Acrylic on canvas (40mm) 24x18"

The painting presents an intimate and melancholic interior scene. An elderly figure lies curled on an old red sofa, his body folded inward in a posture of fatigue, withdrawal, or sorrow.

The room is sparsely decorated with walls marked by age and neglect, and (mostly) political posters stickk to the wall like faded remnants of past conviction.

A duck, an unexpected but quietly powerful presence, stands without discernible expression in the room, while a lit cigarette in an ashtray may represent stress, thought or struggle.

The composition is simple yet emotionally charged, using flat planes of color and minimal furnishing to create a sense of isolation, stillness, and psychological weight.

Artistic Themes

The painting explores themes of political exhaustion, alienation, memory, and the afterlife of ideology.

The ageing figure appears not as a triumphant agent of change, but as someone left behind by history — worn down by time, solitude, and perhaps the failure of long and fervently-held ideals to catch the public consciousness in his lifetime.

The peeling posters act as symbols of a once-vital movement now reduced to fragments, echoing the erosion of both personal and political certainty.

The duck functions as a symbolic figure within the work. It may represent estrangement: a “duck out of water,” displaced, awkward, and disconnected from its natural environment. In this sense, the duck mirrors the revolutionary himself — a person whose beliefs or commitments have set him apart, making him difficult to assimilate into "ordinary" social life.

The painting therefore meditates on what it means to devote oneself to struggle and then find that struggle forgotten, misunderstood, or rendered obsolete.

There is also a tenderness in the image. Rather than depicting revolution through action, the work focuses on vulnerability, aftermath, and emotional residue. It asks the viewer to consider not only the public image of resistance, but also its private cost. One of the old wall posters suggests that there have been other interests, but it is as old and faded as the rest of the scene.

Artist’s Statement

This painting reflects on the loneliness that can accompany a life of political commitment. I wanted to portray the revolutionary not as a heroic symbol, but as a human being — tired, isolated, and left to sit with the weight of his convictions in a world that may no longer listen. The near-empty room and worn walls suggest both material poverty and emotional depletion, while the old posters stand as traces of ideals that once carried urgency and collective energy. This is not intended to be a critical portrayal, but a recognition that some on the left of politics cling on to outdated ideals which lack relevance in a changed world - and are sometimes left baffled and depressed by modern politics.

The duck is central to the emotional logic of the piece. It serves as a metaphor for displacement and social estrangement — the condition of being visibly present, yet fundamentally out of place. In this room, the duck becomes a quiet companion and a reflection of the man himself: both figures inhabit a space where they do not entirely belong. Through this pairing, I wanted to evoke the sense that revolutionary consciousness can become a kind of exile, separating an individual from the rhythms and comforts of everyday life.

By using acrylic in a direct, flattened visual language, I aimed to preserve a rawness and immediacy that suits the subject. The painting is less about a specific political event than about the emotional aftermath of belief: what remains when struggle becomes memory, when ideals fade from public life, and when the individual is left alone with the burden of having once hoped for transformation.

</g:description>

      <g:title>"Cigarette Break at the Club"</g:title>
      <g:description>

Original Painting: "Cigarette Break at the Club"

Acrylic and oil on paper. 10x12" Framed as seen.

Description

The work portrays a drag performer seated outside a nightclub, paused between performances. The figure sits slightly hunched, legs crossed, holding a cigarette mid-burn as smoke curls upward into the darkened blue of the night. A turban replaces the glamour of a wig, signaling a moment of transition—neither fully in costume nor entirely out of it. Their gaze meets the viewer directly, over-exaggerated eyes alert yet tired, the painted lines around them suggesting both resilience and vulnerability.

The palette contrasts deep blues and shadowed tones with warmer earth hues and soft highlights across the performer’s face and costume. The textured brushwork of acrylic and oil creates a raw immediacy, echoing the emotional state of the subject. The club’s presence is implied rather than explicit—suggested by surrounding darkness and ambient colour—allowing the focus to remain firmly on the solitary figure and their quiet interlude.

Artistic Themes

This work explores duality: performance and personhood, spectacle and solitude, artifice and authenticity. Drag, often associated with flamboyance and transformation, is here depicted in its in-between state—a liminal pause where glamour gives way to fatigue and reflection.

The cigarette becomes symbolic: a fleeting ritual of release, a breath between acts, a small act of autonomy. The turban, standing in for the absent wig, underscores the fragility and labor of constructed identity. The melancholy atmosphere does not diminish the subject; instead, it humanizes them, presenting drag not only as performance but as endurance, discipline, and lived experience.

The painting also engages with themes of visibility. While drag performers command attention on stage, this portrait shifts the gaze to a private, almost unseen moment. The subject looks back at the viewer, challenging passive observation and inviting empathy.

Artist’s Statement

In *Cigarette Break at the Club*, I wanted to honor the quiet spaces that exist behind spectacle. Drag is often consumed as entertainment—bold, loud, dazzling—but rarely do we sit with the stillness that follows performance. This painting focuses on that pause.

The performer’s direct gaze and oversized eyes are intentional. It asks the viewer not to romanticize or pity, but to witness. The fatigue present in their posture is not defeat; it is evidence of labor, of transformation, of commitment to craft. The melancholy tone is balanced with tenderness—I aimed to paint a portrait that is sympathetic without being sentimental.

I love combining acrylic and oil, the oils appearing to add both depth and "pop", giving a tactile immediacy that mirrors the layered identity of the subject. This is a portrait of resilience, of humanity within performance, and of the dignity found in moments when the spotlight has faded.
</g:description>

This painting captures a moment of intentional withdrawal from the overwhelming world - a young woman sits in thoughtful repose, her positioning carefully arranged to avoid disturbing her resting cat, who occupies the favored spot on the couch.

The symbolic unhooked telephone speaks to the universal need to disconnect and recharge, particularly resonant for those who experience the world with heightened sensitivity. Yet even in this moment of 'turning off,' the painting acknowledges the constant accommodations we make - the girl's slightly awkward position demonstrates how we adapt our comfort for those we love.

Artistic Themes

- Home as sanctuary and refuge

- The healing power of animal companionship

- Neurodivergent experience and sensory overwhelm

- Moments of reflection without sadness

- The balance between self-care and care for others

- Shared spaces and mutual accommodation

Artist Statement:

As an autistic artist, this work explores the necessity of stepping away from an overstimulating world while honoring the relationships that sustain us. The cat represents the grounding presence that animals, particularly cats, provide for many neurodivergent individuals and anyone navigating life's challenges. The painting celebrates these quiet moments of restoration that allow us to re-engage with the world on our own terms.

The vibrant yet soothing color palette of greens, oranges, and warm earth tones creates an atmosphere that is both energizing and calming - a visual representation of finding peace within one's own space.

Perfect for collectors who appreciate:

- Contemporary narrative art with personal meaning

- Neurodivergent perspectives in fine art

- Intimate domestic scenes with emotional depth

- Work that celebrates the human-animal bond

- Art that speaks to themes of self-care and mental health awareness

</g:description>
